Courage Bagels definitely lives up to its hype, I was actually amazed at the quality and flavor of these bagels! You certainly have to get there early (regardless, there will likely be a line) but the experience was fun and I would do it again. My friend and I shared the hand sliced smoked salmon, tomato and cheddar on a sesame bagel, and a bagel with almond butter and jam. My ranking would be salmon, tomato, and almond butter from best to last, though they were all amazing. It's a quaint little place and honestly had a great time!

It's rare you have a meal that leave you craving it for days, let alone a meal that you dream about and the next minute you're driving an hour to get your hands on the perfect bagel. Courage Bagels is that meal. Courage Bagels is located in East Hollywood/Silverlake, in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. The staff are always super friendly and the food quality is consistently great. The food is not cheap, because their bagels are made from high quality, locally sourced ingredients. The lines can get long, especially during the weekend. The Silverlake heatwave is intense, but Courage provides misted fans and umbrellas to survive the wait. If you're contemplating if this is all worth it: yes, it is. Courage started by the owner couple Skye and Moss selling their bagels from the back of a bike, then the Silver Lake Farmer's Market, and finally opened their counter service store in 2020. It's remarkable to see a small local business truly define a new genre of LA bagels, when the stigma used to be "LA bagels will never be as good as NY bagels." Seasonal, locally sourced and high quality ingredients that are to die for. Light, airy bagels that should really be categorized as an artisanal bread. I almost don't want to recommend specific items since all of their bagels are unique in their own way, but the 2 of my favorites are: - Roe! Wild Alaskan Salmon Roe: bursts of salt and the refreshing mix of cream cheese and dill are *chefs kiss*. I usually choose sesame or plain bagel to fully enjoy the flavor of the toppings. - Crunchy California Almond Butter w/ Sqirl Strawberry Rose Geranium Jam: the most superior version of a PB&J. - Tomato cream cheese: my boyfriend's go-to, I usually don't like tomato but this bagel is super refreshing. Muster up the Courage and brave the line to try Courage Bagels, you'll be SO glad you did.

I saw this pop up on my IG feed and decided to give this place a try last weekend. I came by on Labor Day Monday and the line wasn't too bad around 9am. I waited around 20 minutes to order. It is warm standing in there in line and thankfully there are umbrellas for you to use. I wanted to try so many different ones but I ended up getting 2 half so I can try more. However, I do feel it is expensive for only half of a bagel but I also understand that this is fresh ingredients that they use. I ordered half of a Run it Thru the Garden. Those veggies were so fresh and crunchy. The tomato was sweet! It was so good! I got it on a everything bagel. Everything just paired very nicely together. Typing up this review actually makes me want some. The other half was the Hand Sliced Smoked Salmon. It was very good as well. I want to come back and try the Salmon Roe one!!! After ordering, I waited another 20 minutes to get my order. ***TIP: if you pay cash, they give a little discount. If you are paying with card, it is extra charge.

This is still my favorite breakfast spot for bagels. Cream cheese tomato on burnt everything bagel - this is my go-to and my favorite-ist ever! At my last visit in August 2024, they had misters and parasols for the people in line! That was so nice. I tried their seasonal crunchy almond butter with jam on the sesame bagel, and it was amazingly delicious. After you order, you still have to wait for your food. This is a good time to scope out the seating area outside. Almost all the tables are covered by a large sun umbrella, so there is plenty of shade. They also have a water dispenser next to the napkins and cup lids. If you haven't had Courage Bagels yet, you need to come! Remember to set aside $20 for the food and $1 for the metered parking. Expect a wait time of at least 30 minutes. They charge 3% for using credit card. (also posted on Google)
